She Is Eco Chic with Simple Stories Vintage Bliss

The Gist

I am having an internal debate with myself about how much I need to write about my layouts.  When I was on a design team (one of the greatest experiences of my life) I was persuaded to write more about the product I used and the techniques that I used since I was trying to sell product for the store.  I was cool with that and enjoyed doing it…  Today, my scrapbooking is more about the fact that I am actually getting it done and enjoying the process to the best of my ability. I am not sure how much I need to write.  I am going to try to continue listing the products I used and continue to link the collections I used when I can remember what exact item I used (not always possible given the state of my scrap space).  I am happy to answer any questions you may have about my techniques or about the products (given the simplicity of my pages lately I don’t imagine there will be many).  I am also hoping for a new camera soon, but until then you will have to bear with me as I have less than perfect pictures…. my old camera went missing from my purse last August and I have been punting with a relic of a digital camera or the I-pod since ( I haven’t learned how to get a good picture from the I-pod, and the preview screen on the old digital doesn’t give a preview of the picture and the auto focus is pretty bad, so I don’t know what kind of image I got until I bring it inside and upload the picture on the computer; and then you have my shoddy vision issues I have to contend with).

Any suggestions you have that I can use to make this blog better, I surely would appreciate.  I feel like I am re-learning almost everything; including how to be a member of the human race again… So please, comments on anything are always appreciated.

* I was beyond thrilled with how the colors in My Girl blended with the colors in parts of the collection from Collectible.  While I have yet to by a whole collection from the Collectible line, I am reminded how much I want it every time I look at this page.  I also love when you can get double duty from a line… and Collectible absolutely provides this kind of versatility.

They Are Tops In My Book with My Minds Eye-Boy Crazy

The Gist

I was extremely proud of this layout despite the fact that is took me nearly three weeks to complete it (My pain was just so bad I could only work in 5-10 minute increments).  This was the first of the layouts I did which made me feel like I had returned to a little bit of my creative glory.  While I am still not there yet… and can’t quite get as lost in my scrap studio like I once did, I have faith that it will soon return.

You Are My Sweetness with My Minds Eye

As much as I love to play with inks (distress, glitter mists,  etc…) and greatly distressed projects, one would believe that painting on layouts would be old hat to me.  The truth is, however, that I have always been terrified of adding paint to a layout.  The few times I have done so in the past I was so disappointed in the layout that it has ended up in secret piles; those pages no one is ever allowed to see.  I have long admired others ability to apply splotches of paint to their layouts with ease (much like distress ink works for me), but past disappointments  have kept me from taking that leap.

I recently bit the bullet, after purchasing a bottle if Tim Holtz Crackle Paint for another  project, and used a bit of Crackle  Paint on a Smashbook Page… I didn’t hate the result, so I promised myself this technique would have to be used on an upcoming page.

This layout was near completion.  I was simply trying to find a place to ground my already designed title.  Everywhere I laid it, it seemed to fall into the background.   My eyes kept going to a bottle of white paint on my shelf.  Finally, I convinced  myself to just start painting. I was pretty happy with the results!

The Scrapbooking Studio Design Team Time

Look At Those Lashes with Bo Bunny Alora

Look at what I created with items from my first design team assignment for  The Scrapbooking Studio.  I really loved the hat pins that were added into the mix, and I have been using hat pins on everything  lately.  I have  also been truly inspired by the canvas tags from Maya Road… so watch for more projects with these fun little fabric bits.  I also really like the colors in this Bo Bunny Line; super springy and super fun.  I am going to have a lot of fun playing with the other papers from the line!

Card with Spellbinders Dies

I did a demo at work today using Spellbinders dies.  I used some My Minds Eye Lost & Found paper that I had previously used to make some store samples (see  Altered  Stuff with My Minds Eye Lost and Found).  I  used the cuts prescribed to me, but added a few Stephanie touches.  Apologies for the bad picture quality  (blasted phone cameras).
